Prima Ballerina Lisa Macuja guests in TV5’s Batibot this January 28

Internationally-renowned Filipina prima ballerina and the first non-Soviet soloist to dance with the historic Kirov Ballet, Lisa Macuja, is featured as the guest story teller in TV5’s most-favorite kids’ show Batibot at 8:30 a.m. this Saturday, January 23. The prima ballerina also reminisced with the Batibot team about that first time 20 years ago, shortly after her homecoming from Russia, when she was featured in Batibot dancing to an original Batibot song “Umihip Tulad ng Hangin.”

This time, Lisa will narrate an original Batibot story about “Hannah Hippo” an eager ballet student and also tells her own story about growing up and learning to be a professional ballet dancer. The Batibot team is confident Lisa Macuja’s story will be an inspiration to children especially those interested in dance.

Watch out for Batibot’s “Matuto tayo Sumayaw!” episode this Saturday which is about learning to dance and working hard to achieve one’s fullest potentials – in dance and in life! This Saturday’s Batibot dance-themed episode will also feature young kids from Pasay City who are learning ballroom dancing after school and hope to achieve competitive levels.

After signing up with the Kapatid Network, Megastar Sharon Cuneta marks her first guesting on a TV5 program via morning show Kumare Klub this week.

The Megastar talks about how she rears her daughters KC, Frankie, Miel and Miguel on “Parentin” segment this Wednesday (January 18). Interviewed by Nyora Chiqui Roa-Puno, Sharon talks about her role as a mom to her four children and wife to Sen. Kiko Pangilinan. She also gives tips on how she maintains a relatively healthy lifestyle despite her busy schedule. On Thursday (January 19), the Megastar reveals her favourite dishes and guilty pleasures on “Okay Ka Lang?” segment.

On “Kumare Chika” segment this Friday (January 20), Sharon finally opens up about her eldest daughter KC after the latter’s controversial breakup with actor Piolo Pascual. She also reveals how they were able to share laughter and tears on their recent trip to the US.

This coming 2012, the Kapatid network is set to turn ‘dreams’ into a ‘reality’ as TV5 ushers the New Year with a formidable line-up of reality programs that promises to shake up Filipinos’ TV viewing experience.

Kapatid star Nora Aunor shines brightest at Star Awards, other TV5 shows honored

The biggest stars from different networks may have graced the recently concluded 25th Star Awards for TV, but the luster of the one and only Superstar, Ms. Nora Aunor, proved to be the brightest. The exclusive Kapatid star received a standing ovation while she was being conferred the Hall of Fame by the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC)-organized awards rites held last Tuesday (November 22) at Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World, Pasay City.

She received the special award for the musical variety show Superstar which holds the record as the longest-running musical show on Philippine TV after lasting for 22 years on air.

Following Aunor’s highly publicized return to the Philippines and a successful TV comeback via the Kapatid Network’s first miniserye Sa Ngalan ng Ina, the local industry was quick to merit the Superstar the highest distinctions every award-giving body could give. The Superstar recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award and an Icon of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) from the PMPC Star Awards, the Honorary Originals of Philippine Cinema Award at the Cinema One Originals Independent Film Festival, and another Lifetime Achievement Award at the 13th Cinemanila International Film Festival.

Aside from Nora Aunor, five other Kapatid shows and personalities bagged recognitions at the Star Awards for TV on its silver year.

Mother of Philippine Showbiz Talk Cristy Fermin got the Best Female Showbiz Oriented Talk Show Host trophy for showbiz talk show Juicy. Moreover, Willie Revillame’s Willing Willie got the Best Variety Show trophy. For two years in a row, Bossing Vic Sotto was recognized as the Best Game Show Host for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

Talentadong Pinoy was hailed the Best Talent Search Program at the awards night. The country’s biggest talent show is also set to compete in this year’s Asian TV Awards under the Best General Entertainment Category. Talentadong Pinoy was also awarded a special citation by the Catholic Mass Media Awards recently.

Gawad Amerika 2011 Outstanding Public Service awardee and Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) chief Persida Acosta bagged the Best Public Service Program Host trophy for Public Atorni. The first on-air mediation program also received a special citation in the recently concluded Catholic Mass Media Awards.

Bitag once again clinched the Best Public Service Program award. The popular crime investigative program, hosted by Ben Tulfo, recently moved back to TV5, its original home, after nearly a decade on air.

The Star Awards for TV awarding ceremony was co-hosted by Kapatid star Richard Gomez, who will soon host the international game show franchise The Biggest Game Show in the World: Asia on TV5.

'PS I Love You,' Magbabalik Bilang Dramaserye ng TV5

Ang love story na nagpakilig sa mga fans noong ‘80s ay nagbabalik hindi sa pelikula, kundi sa telebisyon. Ang PS I Love You, na lalong nagpasikat sa tambalang Gabby Concepcion at Sharon Cuneta, ay muling bibigyang buhay ng TV5 bilang isang dramaserye sa primetime simula ngayong November 21.

Ang PS I Love You ng TV5 ay sequel sa orihinal na ‘80s movie. Hindi na natuloy ang pagpapakasal nina Mark (Gabby Concepcion) at Kristine (gagampanan ngayon ni Dina Bonnevie). Ngayon, may kanya-kanya na silang pamilya. Pilit nilang kinalimutan ang naudlot na pagmamahalan. Ngunit sadyang mapagbiro ang tadhana. Muling magku-krus ang kanilang mga landas at ang mga alaalang pilit kinalimutan ay magbabalik.

Magsisimula ang dramaserye sa naudlot na kasal nina Mark at Kristine, kung saan hindi sumipot ang huli. Malalaman ni Mark na magpapakasal na ito sa isang mayamang negosyante.

Pipiliting bumangon ni Mark sa kanyang kinasasadlakan at sa kanyang pagsisikap, magiging bilyonaryong investment banker siya. Sa napakalaking obligasyong kaniyang hinaharap sa buhay, huhugot si Andrea ng lakas at inspirasyon kay Jason (Kean Cipriano), isang struggling musician.

Sa payo ng mga kamag-anak, napag-desisyunan ni Andrea na ipagbili ang kanilang kumpanya sa isang investor na sasalba sa kanilang negosyo. Lingid sa kanyang kaalaman, ang taong gustong bumili sa kumpanya nila ay si Mark, ang dating pag-ibig ng kanyang ina.

Isang bagong kabanata sa buhay nina Mark at Kristine ang mabubuksan. Mamumuo ang pag-iibigan ng kanilang mga anak – ang anak ni Mark na si Paul (AJ Muhlach) at ang isa pang anak ni Kristine na si Candice (Nadine Lustre) – gagawin nila ang lahat para mapaghiwalay ang dalawa. Susuungin naman nina Paul at Candice ang mga hamon upang ipagtanggol ang kanilang pag-iibigan.

TV5’s USI bags CMMA’s Best Special Event Coverage award

TV5 strengthens its presence in the field of News and Public Affairs. A year and a half after its initial airing, Paolo Bediones’ USI (Under Special Investigation) bagged the Best Special Event Coverage award for its “Tsunami” episode in the recently concluded 33rd Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA). Public Atorni, another TV5 public affairs program, also received a special citation for Best Public Service Program.

A weekly public affairs program that tackles society’s most pressing issues, USI offers an in-depth look on stories that affect the lives of Filipinos. Tsunami, the episode that made USI clinch the award, is the show’s coverage of the disaster that hit Japan earlier this year. It was an eye-opening experience for Paolo Bediones, who celebrated his birthday in Japan during his Tsunami coverage. According to him, he fears the grave threat such phenomenon poses should it hit the Philippines.

This is the second award USI has received after winning last year’s KBP Golden Dove Award for Best Documentary Program.

Public Atorni, on the other hand, helps underprivileged Filipinos in their small claims and pending court cases through mediation. As the show’s host Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) chief Atty. Percida Acosta hears both sides and explains the legal perspectives on the issue/s raised. She then asks both party “Asunot o Areglo?” (to Sue or to Settle). If they pick areglo, both parties will have to compromise and resolve the issue.

This Saturday is going to be an exciting, fun-filled day for everyone as Wil Time Bigtime celebrates its first anniversary. In preparation for this big event, TV5 is making security a top priority, hence the management’s decision not to pack Smart Araneta Coliseum to its full capacity. The network and Wil Production are also working closely with the management of Smart Araneta, local government units, and PNP.

There will be medical teams on standby and clinic stations around the area. Ushers will also be deployed to assist the people inside the venue.

Just a few important reminders:

Absolutely no tickets will be given out on the day of the show, but those who are watching from home need not be disheartened. They will have higher chances of winning in the ongoing Wil Time Bigtime Anniversary Text Promo.

Mariel’s Wil Time Bigtime debut marks all-time high ratings

Wil Time Bigtime was in high spirits last Saturday (October 15) as host Willie Revillame welcomed the newest addition to the top-rating people’s show—Mariel Rodriguez. Thousands of viewers warmly received the newest Kapatid, as proven by the program’s high ratings last Saturday’s episode posted.

According to Nielsen Media Research Mega Manila overnight data, Wil Time Bigtime achieved its all-time highest ratings of 10.2% AMR (40.0% audience share) last Saturday. It also toppled the ratings of the shows from other networks on the same timeslot as GMA only received 6.2% AMR (24.5% audience share) and ABS-CBN got 5.1% AMR (20.0% audience share).

“Nakakagulat po dahil napakabigat na desisyon sa buhay niya ’to. Pero nanaig sa kanya kung saan ang puso niya. Wine-welcome po natin, starting this day, magbibigay na po ng saya sa ating lahat, Ms Mariel Rodriguez," Revillame said as on the show. (RMMI) recently inked a deal signifying their partnership for a number of TV and movie projects, including a new version of Regal's hit TV show "Regal Shocker" which will be line produced by RMMI for TV5. For movies, RMMI and TV5's movie arm Studio 5 are partnering to co-produce six movies, starting with the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry "Hototay". Apart from this, there is an output deal with RMMI for the airing of their movies on TV5. The Kapatid Network has also licensed from RMMI the story rights for some of Regal's hit movies that will be turned into TV series.

After making waves in Philippine broadcasting and expanding its reach to key cities all over the country, TV5 takes another giant leap forward by launching two international channels that will give Filipinos overseas access to the network’s most popular programs.

The two new channels – Kapatid TV5 and Aksyon TV International – are being run by the network’s affiliate company Pilipinas Global Network, Ltd. (PGN Ltd.), a British Virgin Islands company which is 60% owned by PLDT and 40% owned by ABC Development Corporation. These will initially be made available to television viewers in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe.

“Our vision is to build a global community of subscribers who wish to remain connected with their Filipino roots. We shall provide our global Kapatids a bundle of services that will bring them even closer to their loved ones back home,” said Claro P. Carmelo Ramirez, President of PGN, Ltd.
Kapatid TV5 carries most of TV5’s flagship programs such as Face to Face, Wil Time Bigtime, Babaeng Hampaslupa, Juicy, Paparazzi, Talentadong Pinoy, Wow Mali, R U Kidding Me?, Sugo Mga Kapatid, Bagets, Iskul Bukol, among others.

The series will be topbilled by former Kapuso star Nadine Samonte. Playing as her leading men are model-turned actor Victor Silayan and comebacking actor Leandro Muñoz.

Under the direction of Bb. Joyce Bernal, Rod Santiago's "The Sisters" is set to premiere later this month replacing "Babaeng Hampaslupa".

Regine Angeles, Keempee de Leon and Sam YG lead the cast of the remake of classic 80s and 90s sitcom "Iskul Bukol."

Keempee De Leon is “Wacky Roque,” Regine Angeles assumes the role of "Barbie Que" and Sam YG portrays the role of "Easy Balidosa." Joining them are Erika Padilla as “Shawie Cunanan,” Fredison Lo as “Rude Valentino,” Alwyn Uytingco as “Chill Balidosa,” Tess Antonio as “Aning Francia,” Lao Rodriguez as “Pet Jacobo” and Joel Saracho as “Bongbong Bing.”

The setting for the new "Iskul Bukol" will still be in Wanbol University but it will feature different characters. Keempee de Leon, one of the stars of the said remake, pointed out that the original characters nor anyone related to them including the character portrayed by his dad Joey de Leon, will not appear on the new version. He also reportedly hinted that the new "Iskul Bukol" is partially inspired by the US sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" and the hit TV musical series "Glee."

The all-new Iskul Bukol premieres 10:00pm tomorrow night, May 24, on the Kapatid Network after "Nagbabagang Bulaklak."

Mr. Willie Revillame, the producers of “Willing Willie” and TV5 sincerely and deeply apologize for the segment of the show featuring 6-year-old Jan-Jan Suan which viewers may have found offensive or in bad taste. We wish to stress that there was never any intention to humiliate or abuse Jan-Jan or any contestant on the show.

“Willing Willie” is a program that was conceptualized to bring joy and hope and shine the spotlight on ordinary Filipinos. The program aims to provide a venue for everyone to show their talents, tell their stories and make their dreams come true. This is the thrust of everyone involved in the program, particularly its host, Willie Revillame.

Like most contestants on the show, Jan-Jan, accompanied by his aunt, joined the program to showcase his talent and play in a game segment in the hope of bringing home big prizes. He has performed in the past in school programs and mall contests, and his performance in “Willing Willie” was completely voluntary and with the blessings of his parents. TV5 Files Complaint Against SkyCable

TV5 filed a letter of complaint today with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) concerning Pilipino Cable Corporation’s “continued refusal to include UHF Channel 41 in its Sky Cable channel line-up.”

Previously, on February 18, 2011, TV5, through its Legal Department Head Atty. Christine Ona, sent Pilipino Cable Corporation a letter informing the latter that AksyonTV (UHF Channel 41 on free TV) would commence its broadcast on February 21, 2011. By means of the same letter, TV5 thus requested Pilipino Cable Corporation for the channel assignment of the said free-to-air channel on Sky Cable. AksyonTV is TV5’s 24-hour news and sports channel on the UHF band.

However, despite TV5’s aforesaid letter-request for Sky Cable’s compliance with the NTC’s “must carry” rule on the broadcast of free TV channels by all cable operators, Pilipino Cable Corporation has to date not acceded to TV5’s request for inclusion of its AksyonTV UHF Channel 41 in Sky Cable’s channel line-up.

At any rate, in its letter-complaint filed today with the NTC, TV5 cites Pilipino Cable Corporation’s “clear act of unfair trade competition” and accordingly requests the NTC to sanction Pilipino Cable Corporation for its “highly illegal acts” that are “prejudicial to the rights of [TV5].” In addition, TV5 calls on the NTC to “investigate the matter” and “impose appropriate penalties” against Pilipino Cable Corporation for the cable operator’s alleged unfair trade practice. Pilipino Cable Corporation is owned and controlled by ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, a competitor of TV5 and AksyonTV.

TV5 Partners with WWF for 2011 Earth Hour

TV5 recently inked a deal with World Wide Fund for Nature to be the media partner for the 2011 Earth Hour, a global event happening on March 26 from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. TV5 also agrees be a partner in raising environmental awareness among the viewing public as WWF runs its Earth Hour 60+ campaign.

Bago pa man ang proyektong ito, napatunayan na ni Alex ang kanyang flexibility bilang total entertainer—ang comic princess sa LokomokoU, multi-talented performer sa P.O.5 at bubbly host ng gossip show na Juicy. Willie Revillame put himself again in another controversy involving his former home studio ABS-CBN.

During his live birthday celebration last January 26, 2011 on "Willing Willie", Willie aired his anger over longtime friends John Estrada and Randy Santiago for allegedly closing a deal with ABS-CBN to host a new afternoon game show with Kapamilya female stars Mariel Rodriguez and Toni Gonzaga.

According to Willie, Randy and John are fully aware that he already lobbied an afternoon game show to TV5's big bosses Manny Pangilinan and Atty. Rey Espinosa which the two will be co-hosting.

TV5 kinuha si Alice Dixson para sa bagong primetime drama

Nagbabalik-bayan ang isa sa mga icon ng classic beauty sa showbiz na si Alice Dixson upang makasama sina Ms. Susan Roces, Alex Gonzaga at ilan sa mga pinakamaniningning na bituin para sa first-ever primetime drama series ng Happy Network, ang Babaeng Hampaslupa.

Opisyal nang pinakilala ng TV5 si Alice bilang pinakabagong Kapatid sa ginanap na contract signing kamakailan. “Even before, we have been telling her that there’s a project waiting for her in TV5. We’re very happy that she’s now a Kapatid,” ayon kay Perci Intalan, head of Creative and Entertainment Production ng TV5.

Hamon kay Alice na gampanan ang isang major role sa pinakabagong primetime offering ng TV5. “I’m expecting a lot of fun in Babaeng Hampaslupa. I know it’s going to take a lot of hard work but I also know that I’m in good hands because I’ll be working with the best directors and creative team. I’m comfortable with both Eric Quizon and Joyce Bernal who are the directors of this exciting project,” saad ni Alice during the story conference of the series.

Ang Babaeng Hampaslupa ang unang comeback project ng dating beauty queen-actress matapos umalis ng bansa noong 2005 at manirahan sa Vancouver, Canada kasama ng kanyang asawa. Ngunit kahit pa anim na taong nawala sa sirkulasyon ang aktres, isa pa rin siya sa kinikilala bilang pinakamagandang mukha sa showbiz. Unang napansin ang karisma ni Alice sa kanyang classic “I can feel it!” line sa soap commercial noong 1987. Mula noon, naging paborito na siyang leading lady ng mga pinakamalalaking pangalan sa pelikula at telebisyon.

Kapatid na si Mart Escudero!

Ang StarStruck season 4 winner na si Mart Escudero ay nakatakdang lumipat sa TV5. Ayon sa Scoopbox ng PEP, ang manager ni Mart na si Popoy Caritativo (ang manager din ni Marian Rivera at Dennis Trillo) ay namataan kahapon sa bakuran ng TV5 habang nakikipag-usap sa mga executives ng Kapatid network.

Kasama na si Mart sa story conference ng upcoming TV5 primetime teleserye na "Ang Babaeng Hampaslupa" na ginaganap ngayon sa Max's Roces. Ang nasabing teleserye ay pagbibidahan ni Alex Gonzaga sa kanyang pinaka-unang dramatic lead role sa telebisyon. Makakasama na rin ni Mart ang isa pang StarStruck alum na si Rainier Castillo na nauna nang naging Kapatid.

Hindi maganda ang year 2010 kay Mart dahil kumpara sa batchmate niya sa StarStruck na si Aljur Abrenica ay naging matumal ang mga projects niya sa siyete.

Dalawa lang ang maituturing na naging proyekto ni Mart sa Kapuso network last year, ang soap opera na "Gumpang Ka Sa Lusak" at isang guest role sa "Jillian: Namamasko Po."

Mabuti na lang at nakasama si Mart sa cast ng "Shake, Rattle and Roll 12" at naging lead star siya sa indie film na "Zombadings: Patayin Sa Shokot Si Remington" kung kaya may pinagka-abalahan siya habang naghihintay ng projects sa siyete.

Casts ng Batibot nanlibre ng palabas para sa mga bata sa Rizal Park

Mahigit 2,000 mga bata mula sa iba’t ibang charity ang nakisaya sa mga kalaro nila sa Batibot sa muling pagbubukas ng musical dancing fountain sa Rizal Park lagoon kamakailan lang.

Naghandog ng saya sa mga manunuod ang well-loved muppets ng Batibot na sina Koko Kwik Kwak, Kapitan Basa, at Ningning at Gingging sa isang special one-hour live show kasama ang mga host nitong sina Ate Maya at Kuya Fidel. Sa tulong ng Jack ‘n Jill Pretzels, nag-enjoy ang mga chikiting at kanilang pamilya sa handog na song and dance number, storytelling, at games ng TV5. Nagkaroon din ng pagkakataon ang mga bata na maglaro sa booth games ng TV5 Kids at magpalitrato sa photobooth kasama ng kanilang favorite Batibot muppets.

Katuwang ang National Parks Development Committee (NPDC), muling binuksan ng Department of Tourism ang musical dancing fountain upang tuloy-tuloy na pasiglahin ang Rizal Park. Dati nang naging sikat na atraksyon sa national park ang fountain bago ito mapatigil at muling buksan sa publiko.
